About Me

I am a qualified and registered counsellor and teacher with 20 years’ experience in teaching, facilitation, and counselling across high schools, private practice, and general practice settings. My background also includes roles in the health industry, office management for dental recruitment firms, and work with The Compulsive Gambling Society.

I like to spend my free time with friends, family, and my three adult children.  I find work-life balance through mixed-media art, yoga, and nature. Over ten years ago, I co-founded and still serve on the committee for Rock The Hithe, a six-hour annual music and charity fundraiser originally to raise well needed funds for Hospice, now RTH supports the amazing work of a charity called BellyFul in memory of my mother.

I currently also work for Melanoma New Zealand as their National lead counsellor. I am responsible for establishing and managing Melanoma New Zealand’s online and in-person support groups, as well as peer-matching services. I provide comprehensive support to individuals throughout all stages of their treatment, facilitates connections with relevant health professionals, agencies, and support services, and is tasked with developing, coordinating, and delivering patient support materials and presentations as required.
